Let’s make Sandy Lane Park beautiful again
On 7th September 2024 we held our official launch event. It was a great day – word had got around – we had delivered fliers and the Boughton and Huntington Handbook very kindly put an advert in the September edition.
23 individuals turned up and we were delighted that Deputy Lord Mayor Sherin Akhtar came and got stuck in - working for several hours as we cleared the steps and pathways. People brought their own tools which supplemented what we had been provided with by the Street Care Services. It was a fantastic atmosphere and so many delighted passers by who were pleased to see the park being given some much-needed attention. Many of them said they would come to future dates.
We are now going to meet on the first Saturday of the month 10am – 1pm to continue the good work. Hopefully on October 5th we will be bulb planting so that there will be some much-needed colour in the spring.
We were delighted that local young people Ellie and Felicity took the lead on creating two Bug Hotels which look fantastic.
What a brilliant result! Several people also joined the group and generous donations were made.
